A question kit for finding care

Bring a question. Expect a clear answer.

What sermorelin is, before the sales pitch.

Get the basic idea straight, then ask whether it has anything to do with the problem you want help with.

What is sermorelin doing?

Lab-made sermorelin is a peptide, meaning its protein building blocks are joined in a small chain.

The body makes its own signals called hormones.

It copies part of a natural signal that tells the pituitary gland to release growth hormone.

Below the brain sits the pituitary, a small gland.

Sermorelin is not growth hormone itself; it sends a signal for the body to release its own.

A question to take with you

What makes you think a growth hormone problem explains what I am feeling?

Why an old medicine keeps coming up

Sermorelin (Geref, now discontinued) had approval for a hormone test and for certain growth problems in children.

As of September 28, 2026, those approvals have ended and no approved sermorelin product is marketed in the US.

As of that same September 2026 review, sermorelin had never held Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for use in adults.

An old approval can sound reassuring. Ask whether the evidence matches your age, your problem, and the product being offered.

Evidence to keep in view

The past approval had a narrow purpose

The FDA record describes testing hormone release and treating children with a hormone shortage that affected growth.

That record does not establish a benefit for an adult seeking more energy or a change in body shape.

What the word clinic cannot tell you

Start with the person who would assess you. Ask for their name, their professional role, and the pharmacy that would fill any prescription.

Then ask what happens if the assessment points away from sermorelin. A useful conversation has room for another explanation and for no treatment.

Keep the ad separate from the assessment. Write down what drew you in, then ask the clinician to explain it in ordinary words.
