Bring a question. Expect a clear answer.

The useful part of a source is what it can answer. Keep the study, the approval record, and the licensing record in their own places.

Evidence

The record offered to support a claim; ask what it actually measured or decided.

What approval history can tell you

Evidence to keep in view

The old approval and its ending

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) record describes sermorelin (Geref, discontinued) as a hormone test and a treatment for childhood growth problems.

The approvals ended on June 18, 2009; the FDA’s March 2013 finding about why Geref left the market did not restore them.

When someone cites a past approval, ask which use it covered and whether that is the use being proposed to you.

Sermorelin acetate

The chemical form in the former drug; compounding means making a medicine to order.

Compounding has conditions

Reading the ordinary-pharmacy rules as of September 28, 2026, points to a possible route for sermorelin acetate when all conditions are met.

No FDA ordinary-pharmacy document found in that review names sermorelin; the conditional reading does not approve a finished product.

Ask which route the maker relies on. Keep the pharmacy name and the explanation together.

Adult studies leave large questions open

Each adult study in this review included 10 to 19 participants, with a duration of 16 weeks at most.

A modified relative of sermorelin was used in the Khorram study; across the studies measuring body fat, that measure stayed unchanged.

What a public record can tell you

A license record cannot promise the quality of an individual assessment or prescription.

Use the sources to sharpen the question you ask, not to settle your own diagnosis.
